The main goal of public schools is to give successful education. This can be achieved only through a successful teaching process. The latter, however, is being conducted only by the teacher who has authority. As for authority, it is achieved through the teacher's hiearchical position as well as through the teacher's perosnality, especially his/her actions. Transfer is an unconscious moment which is crucial to gaining authority.
In order to discover the forms and the importance of authority in schools in the past and the present I have compared two schools: public school in the past which was based upon the traditionally educational approaches, and contemporary school which contradicts such approaches.
Analysing the film The Dead Poet's Society I have observed philosophical and pedagogical aspects from the theoretical part. One of the main findings was that a teacher could use more permissive methods if his/her students were educated in a more repressive way, whereby they had already accepted the system of rules beforehand. |

Glavna tendenca javne šole je čimbolj uspešno izobraževati in vzgajati. To pa lahko zagotavlja uspešen učni proces, ki ga vodi učitelj s svojo avtoriteto. Avtoriteta se vzpostavlja tako na podlagi učiteljeve hierarhične pozicije kot tudi na podlagi učiteljeve osebnosti, pri čemer imajo velik pomen učiteljeva ravnanja. Transfer je nezavedni moment, ki je ključen pri vzpostavitvi avtoritete.
Da bi ugotovila, kakšne so bile oblike in vloga avtoritete učitelja v preteklosti in danes, sem primerjala javno šolo v preteklosti, ki je temeljila na tradicionalnih vzgojno-izobraževalnih pristopih, s sodobno šolo, ki se takšnim pristopom zoperstavlja.
Preko analize filma Društvo mrtvih pesnikov sem opazovala filozofska in pedagoška spoznanja iz teoretičnega dela. Ena glavnih ugotovitev je, da se je v preteklosti učitelj lahko poslužil tudi bolj permisivnih metod, če so bili pred tem učenci represivno vzgajani, ker so že ponotranjili sistem pravil. |
