Participation of youth in the institucionale forms of help |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
This diploma thesis discusses the participation as a modern day concept when dealing with children and youths with behavioural and emotional problems included in the institutional forms of helping young people. Firstly, I have covered the theoretical part and discussed the social changes to which young people are subjected to and their overall position in society. I have included the problem of how young people deal with crisis of unemployment and how they become successful and responsible adults. Additionally, I have defined the term empowerment and what young people gain with it. Secondly, I have introduced different definitions of participation by various authors as well as obstacles for introducing participation into our social lives and its positive influences on young people. I have also explored the question of who exactly participates in this process, which was followed by comparing various degrees of participation of young people according to different authors. Lastly, I have discussed the position of participation in a cluster home. The empirical part of my research deals with the story of two young people (a boy and a girl) inside a cluster home; their possibilities of participation in making everyday decisions and planning their own future; how they face and tackle their “growing pains” and other life problems. |
