Pupils progress in the knowledge of swimming in the Škofja Loka municipality |

In the following thesis, we present the results of the analysis of our research on the swimming proficiency of first and third grade primary school students in the municipality of Škofja Loka and the progress made by these students in this field over a two-year period of active swimming lessons. The primary focus of the survey was which “Sea Horse” proficiency rating and which “Dolphin” proficiency rating was achieved by the largest number of first grade and third grade pupils respectively. The analysis of the results of the study gives us a clear idea of the swimming proficiency of the primary school pupils in the Škofja Loka municipality.
The research conducted encompassed three primary schools within the Škofja Loka municipality, with a participatory sample of 232 pupils. Owing to the form of the data acquired, no computerized processing programmes could be implemented and the data was therefore processed by hand. A more detailed description of the applied data processing method can be found under the heading of “Methods of Work”.
Based on the results obtained, we can conclude that the first grade pupils are still too young to be able to qualify as proficient swimmers. However, already within the next two years – i.e. by conclusion of the third grade, the majority (80.2 %) of these pupils do qualify as “swimmers”. This result is very similar to the results obtained in a previous study of the swimming proficiency of seventh grade students (80.8 %). In view of these findings, we may conclude that the significant increase in the swimming capacity of Škofja Loka’s primary school children can be attributed mainly to the newly introduced swimming proficiency programme.
In conclusion, the study shows that care for the swimming capabilities of our pupils is at a very high level, presenting a strong argument for the further maintenance and implementation of the new programme for teaching swimming proficiency in the future – with the continued support of all the teachers who – ultimately – make it possible. |

Predvsem nas je zanimalo, katerega »Morskega konjička« usvoji največ učencev v prvem in katerega »Delfina« usvoji največ učencev v tretjem razredu. Analiza rezultatov nam je pokazala, kakšno je plavalno znanje učencev v občini Škofja Loka.
V raziskavi so sodelovale tri osnovne šole v občini Škofja Loka. Skupaj je vzorec merjencev štel 232 učencev. Zaradi same oblike podatkov si pri obdelavi nismo pomagali z računalniškimi programi.
