The purpose of the thesis was to examine the primary school teachers' and sports pedagogues' perception of teaching physical education, their engagement in free time sports activities as well as how often and for what reasons they seek medical care, what is their body weight perception, the most common diseases or illnesses they suffer from, as well as their satisfaction with their work environment.
The survey was conducted in April and May 2011. The research work was based on an anonymous questionnaire, that was completed by 83 primary school teachers and sports pedagogues employed at 13 primary schools in the Gorenjska Region.
The research shows that teachers seek medical care less than once a year, usually in the winter period and when they need professional advice. On average, their absence from work amounts to less than one week a year and is most commonly reported in spring. Most teachers perceive their health condition as being good and they take good care of their health. They are not often exposed to tension and stress or feel under pressure at work, since they successfully deal with these issues on their own. Very few teachers smoke and they are mostly satisfied with their body weight. Teachers' perception of teaching physical education is positive and they do not feel under pressure when teaching this subject. Results of the research also show that teachers are satisfied with their work environment. |
