The introduction of the graduation thesis presents a short description of the Savinja river watershed from the spring above the Rinka waterfall to the flow into the Sava river near Zidani most. Furthermore, it provides information on the rainfall pattern, the flow, and the topographical and hydrographical characteristics of the Savinja river watershed. The basic hydrological, topographical and hydrographical characteristics of the treated section of the Savinja river in the area of Lu…e are illustrated according to the field inspection and literature. Moreover, the thesis will discuss Lu…e in regard to flood safety. The next chapter of the graduation thesis presents the software and the measurement equipment. In the domain of software two programmes were used, namely the HEC-RAS 3.1.3. for the hydraulic computation model and the Aquaterra for the planning of regulation of the treated section. The practical part of the graduation thesis provides information on the velocity measurement of the Savinja river flow, which was performed with the Valeport open channel flow-meter. Moreover, special attention was devoted to the junction of the Savinja and the Lu…nica rivers. The simulations of a steady flow were made for the flows with variety recurrence interval, which were acquired in the Hydrological Thesis on the Savinja river. While the model of an unsteady flow was made using the interpolated hydrograph of the flood in November 2000. The flow peak of flood was similar to that of the flow with recurrence interval of 50 years. In addition to this the steady flow (Q50) and the unsteady flow (of november 2000) computations were also compared. A part of the graduation thesis focuses on the engineering of the Savinja river in order to protect the vulnerable sections of Lu…e from the danger of flood. The main regulations of river engineering are as follows; replacement of the existing bridge, lowering of the barrage, regulation of the junction and improvement of current levees. With such hydrotechnical river regulations the water level has lowered by 0,50 m. In conclusion, the final part of the thesis provides a description of how the changes in grain substance of inflowing sediment have influenced the moveable capacity and compares the velocity of the computed and measured flows. |
