Sekundarni povzetek: Offer of textiles and clothes greatly exceeds its needs. In the area of textile and clothes industry consumerism is highly developed. On the other hand, environmental awareness is strengthening whereas the current economic crisis is demanding more responsible shopping. Media such as television, newspapers and commercials give us information about numerous new detergents that are supposedly better than the existing ones. In shops we can find more and more textiles and clothes having labels ECO (ECO-cotton, ECO-wool). The thesis focuses on problems of understanding and treatment of textile ecology at home economy. My goal is to warn about the labels’ meaning on textiles, namely because they help us to appropriately care and preserve textiles. By the means of research, conducted by inquiry among 162 pupils of the sixth, seventh and eighth class at three elementary schools, I tried to find out how the respondents and their parents contribute to cleaner environment, how much and what kinds of detergents they use, how often they wash clothes or how they take care that their washing clothes is economical and environment-friendly. I was also interested in how well they obtained knowledge at cookery class about the appropriate care and maintenance of textiles according to their fibre and the purpose of use as well as how well they know eco-labels. I also tried to establish their shopping habits. The results have shown that the respondents’ knowledge about the content of module of textiles and fashion is poor. I have also found out the majority of households use more than five different detergents which I find very concerning from the polluting nature point of view.

Povzetek (ePrints): Ponudba tekstilij in oblačil močno presega potrebe.
