Recognition in a wide public area can invoke a lot of factors. Visual identity of every formal and informal organization is only one of those. In order to successfully communicate trough visual messages, they have to be designed systematically and thoughtfully, as only this way all aspects of a visual message will be achieved.
The overview of the history of visual messages, with emphasis on the development of the written word is highlighted. This includes everything between the first pictorial visual messages, includes the intermediate stages of the transition from pictorial to letter forms, as well as the development of writing systems, which have transcended into today's most widely used type of lettering — latin. The overview includes discoveries, techniques, procedures and typedesigners, who have marked the centuries of history, from early beginnings to the digital era of today. Concepts and definitions from the field of designing fonts and visual messages, required to understand the contents of this diploma thesis are included beforehand.
The majority of the diploma thesis is purposed with designing a convincing visual identity with a custom made font and the implementation of the organized design classes. Different stages in the design of a font are addressed, which are to be used in the design of longer textual sets and systematic giving of information. The process of designing typeface in conjunction with the full graphical image includes the research results of the organization Štajn and their field of work, in order to introduce the customer's activity from a visually-messaging point of view as best as possible, and to test how the design class participants understand visual messages and what their ability of creating them are.
The decision for the chosen topic was governed by the wish to learn and gain additional knowledge from the field of designing visual messages, fonts and typography, as well as to gain competent knowledge in the pedagogical practice. |

Proces oblikovanja črkovne družine v sklopu celostne grafične podobe vključuje izsledke raziskave organizacije Štajn in njenega področja delovanja z namenom karseda najboljše predstavitve naročnikove dejavnosti z vidno-sporočilnega vidika in preizkus, kako udeleženci tečaja razumejo vidna sporočila in kakšne so njihove zmožnosti kreiranja le–teh.
