Sekundarni povzetek: |
In the thesis the behavior of structures during earthquakes is investigated by using the instructional shake table. The main objective of the work was aimed at preparing the various experiments, which are remarked for education of future engineers and general public awareness of earthquake risk. In the first, introductory part, a brief overview of some research centers, which are using shake tables or reaction walls to explore seismic response of buildings, is prepared. In the Section entitled Structures and earthquakes the global characteristics of structures (i.e. strength, ductility, stiffness and damping) that affect the dynamic behavior of structures are briefly summarized. The principle of design force reduction and capacity design method are also explained. In addition to the above, selected damage to buildings, which have occurred during the recent L’Aquila earthquake in Italy, is elaborated. The next section examines the components and the use of the instructional shake table and a review of selected experiments carried out within the framework of University Consortium on Instructional Shake Tables (UCIST). The University of Ljubljana is the partner of the UCIST and was in this way joined to a group of more than a hundred universities including to the most reputable such as University of Stanford and the University of California, Berkeley. In the experimental work a specimen, which symbolically represents the three-storey building, was prepared. The specimen was designed to meet the seismic capacity of the table and to clearly present certain phenomena behavior of structures during the ground movement. Twenty-five experiments in which we demonstrate various forms of mode shapes, the soft storey effect, torsional behavior due to the stiffness or mass irregularities, the concentration of seismic forces in the ground floor and the response of structures for different earthquakes, were performed. Experiments have been carefully documented on a CD so that they are easily accessible to the general public. Conducted experiments show that the instructional shake table is good educational tool, which when properly applied, helps in understanding the dynamic behavior of structures. |

To so nosilnost, duktilnost, togost in dušenje. |
