Effectiveness of teaching mitosis through the learning cycle in secondary school |

We carried out research on mitosis with first year secondary school students in altogether eleven different programs. The aim of the research was to find out how much knowledge about mitosis these students already have acquired in primary school. Additionally, we wanted to test how much new information on mitosis the students acquired, after I explained with the use of computer the method of classifying images of mitosis phases according to Schields. Five weeks after this lesson, I tested their knowledge again and the research has shown that before the lesson dedicated to mitosis the knowledge on the topic was poor, but it significantly increased after the lesson. A test that was carried out five weeks after the lesson showed that there was slight decrease in the level of knowledge, however it was still considered relatively good. Such an approach for teaching mitosis has proven to be very effective. |

Z raziskavo o mitozi, ki smo jo izvedli v prvih letnikih na srednji šoli z enajstimi izobraževalnimi programi, smo želeli preveriti, koliko znanja o tej temi so učenci usvojili že v osnovni šoli. Po učni uri, ki je potekala s pomočjo računalnika in metodo razvrščanja faz slik mitoze po Shieldu, smo želeli preveriti še, koliko novega so se učenci naučili o mitozi. Pet tednov po izvedeni učni uri smo zopet preverjali znanje o mitozi. Raziskava je pokazala, da je bilo znanje o mitozi pred učno uro slabo, po uri pa se je izboljšalo. V testu po petih tednih je znanje malenkostno upadlo, vendar je bilo še vedno zelo dobro. Taka metoda poučevanja mitoze se je tako izkazala za učinkovito. |
