Sekundarni naslov: Gender differences in computer science
Sekundarni povzetek: In my diploma I focused on differences between boys and girls interest in computer science and relations to computers and contents in a subject of computer science like multimedia, programming and using the computers. In first part I am writing about the question of biological differences, the impact of socialization on gender and gender stereotypes which are in this matter really relevant as this world is still considered as a men world. To further, I realized what are the differences in computer usage between genders in study period and why it becomes that way. With multimedia I focused on biological factors about perceiving computer games and multimedia in general. I was trying to determine if computer thinking between boys and girls is different and if there are any differences in programming styles. The teachers are the ones who are establishing a relations to comupeter technologies in educational period and that is why I wanted to find out in my diploma what is their role at ensuring equality between genders. I also found some suggested solutions for elimination of differences between genders in computer subject, where homogeneous groups might play a significant role. I realized that biological factors are insignificant in comparison to impact of environment, especially gender stereotypes and these stereotypes grew some roots in the field of computer science for benefit of men. This points out through early stages of education because computer games, which young population meats early, are more adjusted to boys interests than girls interests. With this, boys start to develop positive relationship to computers. In this period, girls are more distanced and we can see that in late stages of education as boys take the initiative in their classes. The researches do not show that could influence on different thinking in computer programming, therefore difference between girls and boys programming are negligible. Researches do show, that there are differences between attitude between genders which comes from the fact that boys interest in computers is in general bigger than girls. In the world we are living in, the procentage of wemen in computer science iz very low. The theachers could help to turn around this negative trend. A role of teacher with nondiscriminatory approach is significant.
