Flood safety in Ljubljana and flooding in September 2010 |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The exceptional landscape diversity of Slovenia is also shown in great diversity of the flooding and floodplains. Some floodplains have basically preserved their natural condition and are still capable of retaining major flood waters, while others have become settlements and areas for various activities, which has significantly increased hazard in case of potential future flooding. Since the middle of the previous century, a great number of people have settled floodplains in Ljubljana, our capital, as well. This has led to the question of which measures should be adopted in order to ensure their flood safety. In the first part of the thesis, geographic characteristics of the city are described, i.e. where and when flooding can be expected and what would be its intensity. It also provides a historical overview of floods in Ljubljana and measures against them through the years. The middle part of the thesis is a detailed description of the September 2010 flood that affected the southern and south western part of Ljubljana and includes the assessment of damage. The final part of the thesis summarizes reasons for the occurrence of the September 2010 flood and the experience gained. |

V osrednjem delu so najprej podrobno opisane poplave septembra 2010, ki so prizadele južni in jugozahodni del Ljubljane, in ocena nastale škode. Sam zaključek diplomske naloge povzema vzroke in izkušnje poplav septembra 2010. |
