Sekundarni povzetek: This thesis studies a typical 4-way intersection in my home town. The first part is a complete analysis of the existing condition, which includes intersection capacity, traffic safety, speed and stopping distance measurements, and analysis of sight triangle of the intersection. It continues with a list of potential dangers, drawn from my own observations and locals’ experiences. The second part introduces the first possible solution for improvement of the existing condition, the most frequent solution for traffic calming – a roundabout. The next possible solution is a channelized intersection, introduced in the third part of this thesis. Both cases study saturation and visibility of each way of the intersection. I also design basic guiding of motor vehicles and other road users in the intersection using technical specifications for roads from various fields.

Povzetek (ePrints): V diplomski nalogi preučujem klasično štirikrako križišče v domačem kraju. V prvem delu izvajam analizo obstoječega stanja, kamor spada preveritev prepustnosti, prometno varnostna analiza, meritev hitrosti in zaustavitvene razdalje ter preglednosti pri uvozu v križišče. V nadaljevanju navedem nekaj potencialnih nevarnosti z vidika lastnega opazovanja in izkušenj domačinov. V drugem delu predstavim prvo možno rešitev za izboljšanje obstoječega stanja. To je najbolj pogosta izvedba za umirjanje prometa - krožno križišče. Druga možna rešitev je kanalizirano križišče, ki jo predstavim v tretjem delu. V obeh primerih preverjam nasičenost in preglednost posameznih krakov križišča. Izvedem osnovno projektiranje vodenja motoriziranih in ostalih prometnih udeležencev v križišču s pomočjo tehnične specifikacije za ceste iz različnih področij.
