The purpose of this thesis is to introduce primary school challenges and reactions that occur when a student with Asperger's syndrome enters school. In the theoretical part, I define Asperger's syndrome and autism, introduce the law applying to students with Asperger's syndrome, describe the challenges in the school environment and focus on teachers and their process of accepting assistance. I also focus on where the student integrates, if he is unsuccessful in primary school. In the empirical part of my thesis I name the active research, within which I prepared the ''teacher meeting'' prevention program and analyzed participant's reflexions. I explore the primary school challenges with the help of qualitative research, in which I perform an interview with the class teacher and school social worker. The results have shown that the school atmosphere is not oriented on accepting the children with special needs, hence the school faces challenges that Asperger's syndrome accumulates. The meetings were believed to be interesting and beneficial, so the response of the program's participants was highly positive. Most participants agree that this form of school work is imperative and should be continued in the years ahead, because the prevention has an important meaning when working with children with special needs. |
