Poetry is one of the fundamental literary genres, to which children are exsposed already in the preschool period. Unlike the narrative literary work (e.g. drama or prose), poetry seems to be more interesting and attractive to listen to because of its rhymes and rythm.
The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first or rather the theoretical part, poetry is defined and the difference between adult and child literature is portrayed. It then moves on to the development of children's literature through time, and the advancement of poetry in Slovenia. Finally, it presents the literary work of Tone Pavček and Svetlana Makarovič according to the year of publication. Second part focuses on the empirical research done in kindergarten. The aime was that 9 groups of 4 to 5 children, on the basis of listening and talking about the poetry of Tone Pavček and Svetlana Makarovič, decide whose poetry does a group of children prefer. Research has shown that children would rather listen to Svetlana Makarovič's poetry. |
