Sekundarni naslov: Employment of social sciences and humanities graduates
Sekundarni povzetek: The main purpose of the diploma thesis was to analyse the problematic of youth crossing from the field of tertiary education to the labour market. Our focus was on the social sciences and humanities graduates. On the theoretical basis of the modern risk society and the concept of precarity, we introduced the trends of higher education expansion in Slovenia and EU. We linked it to the problematic of rising structural imbalance between the supply and demand on the labour market. The main goal was to establish to what extend do the current employment trends correspond with the actual situation of our focus group. Using the secondary analysis of the survey conducted between the University of Maribor and University of Ljubljana Faculty of Arts students, we tested five research questions. The questions regarded firstly the satisfaction of graduates with their study programmes and obtained competences, secondly, the correlation between the contentment and the time needed to obtain the first employment, thirdly, the symmetry of employment with the area of study and the symmetry of employment with the obtained level of education. Also we examined the self-declared flexibility and the ratio of continuity versus precarity of first employments. The results showed that among social sciences and humanities graduates, there is a slight prevalence of dissatisfaction with their study programmes and that there is a tendency of higher satisfaction among graduates who obtained their employment faster. Furthermore, we concluded that graduates, who express a higher level of confidence in their obtained competences, find their first employment faster. The results also showed that in the time of the survey, 53,8 % of all respondents (excluding full-time students) were employed full time and that 14,3 % were unemployed. We concluded that a big majority of social sciences and humanities graduates (85,1 %) find their employment inside their wider area of education and that this employment is generally (80,6 %) in accordance with their level of education. The results also showed that a large majority (94,3 %) of graduates enters the labour market in some sort of precarious form of employment.
