Sekundarni povzetek: One of the most complex tasks of management today is motivating employees. Globalization has brought heavy competition, which businesses face in different ways. The most important key to successful business and competitiveness of the company are its employees. In times of severe recession, companies are constantly faced with a lack of financial resources. That why is even more important that managers are able to retaine successful, forward-looking and talented employees, who can now and in the future contribute to the success of the company. This can be done with proper motivating. Employee productiveness and motivation can be achieved through continuous monitoring of wishes and needs of employees. Slovenian companies are not sufficiently aware of the importance of monitoring the interests and needs of employees. Despite the fact that over the years some progress was been made in introducing non-monetary methods of motivation, these are still outdated and often low-quality methods of motivation. Never the less, increased that awareness of proper motivation and working with people which increase performance and achieve company goals, is growing. With extensive research we came to the conclusion that Slovenian companies are aware of the motivation of employees. They also try to monitor the needs and wishes of employees. But at the same time we realize that their methods are inadequate. In the future, these methods need to change in order to further improve the company's business. Companies agree that the motivation has a major impact on the corporate culture, which is with their behavior, needs and thinking supplemented by employees. Employees in the company leave their mark and contribute to the development of the company. It is important for companies to recognize the economic crisis as a challenge and an opportunity.
