Namen diplomskega dela je bil ugotoviti posebnosti zdravstvene nege pacienta s Parkinsonovo boleznijo in s pomočjo študije primera raziskati vlogo medicinske sestre v obravnavi pacienta.

Sekundarni naslov: The role of the nurse in the treatment of the patient with Parkinson's disease
Sekundarni povzetek: Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disorder of nervous system. This occurs when some neurons in brain start to collapse and consequently they don’t work properly. This leaves consequences on patients normal movement and influences his quality of life. Parkinson’s disease requires strong and integrated treatment, which also includes cooperation of many specialists. A clinical nurse specialist has an important meaning because she leads patient and his family through all stages of disease. This also includes setting up diagnosis and observing disease development until the late phase. The main purpose of my diploma work was to find out details of nursing care when Parkinson's disease is present. With the help of case study I also had opportunity to look into everyday nursing procedure of patient with Parkinson`s disease. In theoretical part I describe Parkinson’s disease, its epidemiology and etiology, clinical symptoms and methods of treatment. Later on I present how this disease influences an individual’s quality of life. I also describe nurse role and treatment at all stages of disease. Basic for empirical part was to work on case study with one of the patient. Patient was discussed with the conceptual model of Virginia Henderson and the processed work method. We provided information about patient state of health with interview of the patient; we carried on a conversation with nursing team, relatives and we used patient health documentation. When all the data were collected we presented possible nursing diagnoses and developed a plan of nursing care.
