Povzetek

Diplomsko delo z naslovom Multikulturalizem v vzgoji predšolskih otrok je sestavljeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. V teoretičnem delu so predstavljeni pojmi, ki so tesno povezani med seboj; to so: multikulturalizem, migracije, proces asimilacije in integracije, predsodki in identiteta. Za kakovostno delo vzgojitelja v vrtcu je pomembno poznavanje teh pojmov, le tako bo lahko načrtoval svoje delo in ga izvajal skladno z načelom o multikulturalizmu. V teoretičnem delu diplomskega dela je opisan tudi multikulturalizem v vrtcu, kjer so predstavljene vse metode dela z otroki drugega nacionalnega porekla. Vzgojitelj ne sme ignorirati prisotnosti drugih kultur v našem prostoru, saj s tem ne bo prispeval k celostnemu razvoju otrok. Imeti mora znanje o tem, kako vzgojiti strpnega posameznika in kako vključiti otroke drugega kulturnega porekla v proces vzgoje in izobraževanja. V teoretičnem delu diplomskega dela med drugim izvemo, da je multikulturna vzgoja pomembna tudi za otroke večinskega dela kulture, saj bodo v življenju navezovali pristnejše in kakovostnejše stike, brez predsodkov in nestrpnosti. V empiričnem delu so predstavljeni rezultati raziskave na temo multikulturalizem v vrtcu. Za raziskovalni instrument smo uporabili anketni vprašalnik, ki ga je izpolnilo 85 vzgojiteljev in njihovih pomočnikov v velenjskih vrtcih. Zanimalo nas je, na kakšen način vzgojitelji seznanjajo otroke s pojmom različnosti, z različnimi kulturami in tradicijami. Osredotočili smo se tudi na to, da bi izvedeli, ali imajo vzgojitelji in njihovi pomočniki zapisane metode in načine dela z otroki drugega kulturnega porekla in če jih imajo - kje. Prav tako nas je zanimalo sodelovanje s starši otrok drugega nacionalnega porekla in opažanja vzgojiteljev, kako so se otroci večinskega dela kulture vedli do otrok drugega kulturnega porekla. Podatke, pridobljene s pomočjo anketnih vprašalnikov, smo obdelali s programom SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) in jih predstavili tabelarično.

Sekundarni povzetek: The thesis, titled Multiculturalism in Education of Preschool Children, is composed of a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part we present concepts which are strongly connected. These concepts are: multiculturalism, migrations, process of assimilation and integration, prejudice and identity. For performing well at a preschool teacher's job the understanding of these concepts is important; only in this manner one can plan their work and perform in accordance with the principle of multiculturalism. Multiculturalism in kindergarten, where all methods of working with children of other ethnic background are introduced, is also described in the theoretical part of the thesis. A teacher cannot ignore the presence of other cultures in the living environment because it will not contribute to a holistic development of children. A teacher has to have the knowledge on how to raise a tolerant individual and how to include children of other ethnic background in the process of education. In the theoretical part we also find out about the importance of multicultural education for the children from the majority part of the culture; they will be able to forge more genuine and qualitative relations without prejudice or intolerance. The results of the multiculturalism in kindergarten themed research are presented in the empirical part. As a research tool we used a survey questionnaire which was filled out by 85 teachers and their assistants in Velenje kindergartens. We were interested in how the teachers familiarize the children with the concept of diversity, with different cultures and traditions. We focused on finding out if the teachers and their assistants have the methods of working with children of other ethnic background written, and if so - where. We were also interested in the cooperation with the parents of children with other ethnical background and the observations of teachers on how the children from the majority part of the culture behave towards the children with other ethnical background. The information, gathered with the survey questionnaire, was processed with a computer software tool SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) and results were presented in a tabular form.
