Sekundarni naslov: ǂThe ǂrole of workers participation in management
Sekundarni povzetek: Workers' participation in management in Slovenia is regulated by the Worker Participation in Management Act, but mostly it depends on workers whether they benefit from it or not. Workers are informed about events regarding their workplace by works council. Workers’ participation in management ensure workers to participate in a decision-making process in co-operation with company leadership. By doing so, workers provide themselves stable jobs and brighter, better future. The workers’ right to participate in management can raise worker’ level of motivation, but the management does not often take this fact into account. Because of mostly negative thinking and preventing workers’ participation in management by the leadership, it can not be one of the success factors of the company. Mutual benefit and job satisfaction, which leads to more efficient and effective business, can only be achieved with synergy between workers’ desire to participate in management and with a participative management approach by the leadership. Nowadays, employees have become very important part/factor for business and companies. Employees must be highly motivated in order to expect increase in productivity and work performance. Better informing can be achieved by workers’ participation in management and thus ensured greater sense of belongingness among workers. By doing so, inter alia innovation of employees is higher and on the basis of this encouragement, suggestions and recommendations for improvement can be given/expected by the employees. On the other hand, it depends on the management to what extent they will take workers’ suggestions and recommendations into account. Trade unions are main initiators when establishing works council in companies and whose main role is safeguarding of employees’ rights. With workers’ participation in management, trade unions strive to benefit rights, given workers by the law and also give them necessary support. Human resource representatives should be a part of works council membership in a company since human resource department is the most experienced department regarding workers.
