Sekundarni povzetek: In my diploma paper I have presented the way of life of people with Ischaemic Heart Disease (IHD) after coronary artey bypass grafting (CABG). I have presesented the most common Ischaemic Heart Diseases and the major risk factors which are responsible for the development of Ischaemic Heart Disease. I have dealt with health educational activities which are carried out by a state registered nurse in case of CABG. I have also described the rehabilitation of patients and coronary clubs. The purpose of my diploma paper is to present the way of life of patients after an open heart surgery. With the help of a questionnaire we tried to find out how familiar the patients are with all the risk factors responsible for the development of Ischaemic Heart Disease and whether they are prepared to change their lifestyles, and what role the nurses play after CABG. In the empirical part we presented the findings of the research, which was carried out at the University Clinical Centre Maribor between July – September, 2009. We gathered all the data by the help of an anonimous questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 17 open and closed format questions. There were 48 patients with IHD who came to health control checking and were willing to cooperate in the research. The research has shown that the patients with IHD after CABG are well informed about all the the major risk factors which are responsible for the development of IHD by the medical staff but unfortunatelly they do not follow their advice well enough. This si most probably due to their poor motivation in taking care of their own health. There is a surprising result which shows that only 4 percent of the patients with IHD are members of a coronary club or The Slovenian Heart Foundation.
