Sekundarni naslov: Types of church authorities in te area of Montenegro in the Early Modern Age
Sekundarni povzetek: In this master thesis we discuss types of church authority that were active in the area of the later Montenegro during the Early Modern Period. This is where, mainly in the coastal area, the Orthodox Church fought the influence of the Catholic Church, and at the same time there were individuals of Islamic religion living here. The Montenegrin-coastal Metropolia has existed continuously for 780 years. When the Zeta fell under Turkish authority in 1499, the old name of Metropolia of Zeta ("Zetska metropolija") was replaced with a new one - Metropolia of Cetinje ("Cetinjska metropolija"), and later a name of Montenegrin-coastal Metropolia was introduced. The operation of the Montenegrin metropolitans, who led the people of Montenegro together with tribal governors, in 16th and 17th century is described in a separate section of this master thesis, because they had an important influence on the historical development of that area. With the beginning of the Petrović-Njegoš dynasty at the head of Montenegro in 1697 we mark a new era of the Montenegrin history. A very important role was also held by the Orthodox monasteries in the area, of which I exposed the most influential ones. Coastal cities such as Kotor, Bar and Ulcinj were known as centers of Catholicism of that era. I focused especially on the operation of the Catholic Church in the era after 1622, when the Congregation for the propagation of religion was established with a goal to convert as many people of other religions into Catholicism. One of its typical areas was the Montenegrian coast, where all the most important catholic churches were active in the Early Modern Period.
