Povzetek

Človekove pravice pripadajo vsakomur, ne glede no to, koliko je star, kakšnega spola je in kateri verski skupini pripada. Pravice so univerzalne, saj pripadajo vsem, brez izjeme. Otroci spadajo med ranljive družbene skupine. V življenju človeka je otroško obdobje zelo pomembno. To je čas, ko človek potrebuje varnost, zaščito in toplino. Varnost in toplino potrebujejo še posebno takrat, ko morajo zaradi zdravstvenega stanja v bolnišnico. Otrokom v bolnišnici pripadajo temeljne človekove pravice in svoboščine v skladu z njihovo starostjo in zrelostjo. V nadaljevanju je podrobno predstavljena EACH listina z desetimi členi. Temeljni del naloge predstavlja raziskava na področju pravic otrok v bolnišnici. Raziskovali smo dve skupini in sicer zaposlene v zdravstveni negi (medicinske sestre), ki delajo neposredno ob bolnem otroku, in starše bolnih otrok. Posebno pozornost smo namenili poznavanju pravic otrok in vpliv le- tega na kvaliteto dela zdravstvenih delavcev in zadovoljstva z delom zdravstvenih delavcev s strani staršev.

Sekundarni naslov: Children's rights in hospital: how well do parents and hospital staff know them
Sekundarni povzetek: Human rights belong to everyone regardless of their age, gender or religion. Those rights are universal because they belong to everyone without exception. Children are treated as one of the vulnerable social groups. The period of childhood is very important in a person's life. It is the time when a person needs safety, protection and warmth. Safety and warmth are especially needed in times when children have to go to hospital. The basic human rights and freedoms pertain to children in hospital according to their age and maturity. The base for children's rights in hospital is European Association for Children in Hospital (EACH document) which was established in Leiden in 1988 and it contains a list of ten rights for all children before, during and after admittance to hospital. In the times of turbulent environment that constantly changes and reshapes rights and duties everybody should know the rights of children in hospital: parents, children, hospital employees and, of course, those who decide about the extent of these rights. A medical nurse is the carrier of healthcare and nursing in The Republic of Slovenia. She is the expert in the field of healthcare and nursing for integrated health treatment of individuals and groups. The emphasis of her work is based on: the focus on the patient, the respect of the patient's personality, working in patient's benefit and knowing and respecting the patient's rights. The basic regulations regulating the area of the rights of an ill child as well as the organizations in charge of guarding children's rights are presented in the first part of the thesis. Later, EACH document with its ten articles is presented in detail. The basic part of the thesis is the research about children's rights in hospital. Two groups were researched: the employees in healthcare (nurses) who work directly with sick children and the parents of sick children. We were interested in the level of awareness of both researched groups regarding children's rights in hospital. We researched how acquainted the two groups are with children's rights and whether healthcare workers familiarize parents with the rights their child has in hospital. Special attention was paid to knowing the rights of children and the impact of such knowledge to the quality of work of healthcare workers as well as the satisfaction of parents with the work of healthcare workers.
