Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da prihaja do nekaterih pomembnih razlik v psihološkem profilu alpinistov v primerjavi z nešportniki.

Sekundarni povzetek: The purpose of the dissertation was to study personality traits of alpinists. We compared a group of alpinists to non-athletes and explored the possible existence of differences in personality characteristics between the two groups. We focused on the following personality dimensions: activity, neuroticism-anxiety and impulsive sensation seeking, sensation seeking trait and impulsiveness. We analysed the personality dimensions with shorter version of Zuckerman-Kuhlman personality questionnaire (ZKPQ-50-CC), the sensation seeking with the Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS-IV) and the impulsiveness with Eysenck's impulsivity inventory. We were interested in the differences between the expressed variables between both groups. Furthermore, we analysed the connectedness between some similar constructs: impulsiveness, sensation seeking and impulsive sensation seeking. At the end we examined Zuckerman's hypothesis, which claims that sensation seeking belongs to a broader personality dimension called impulsive sensation seeking. 66 participants were included into the research, aged between 23 and 63, thereof 33 alpinist and 33 non-athletes. The participants of both groups had the same average age. The results of the research indicated the existence of some relevant differences in the psychological profile between alpinists and non-athletes. The results of the alpinists' group show that they express statistically higher and significant impulsive sensation seeking and sensation seeking (which was seen in all factors of the trait) compared to non-athletes. The results of the alpinists' group suggest that the activity dimension and impulsivity are expressed higher and neuroticism-anxiety dimension lower compared to non-athletes. Significant associations also exist in similar or partially overlapping constructs, such as impulsivity, sensation seeking and impulsive sensation seeking. Zuckerman's hypothesis, which claims that the sensation seeking belongs to a broader personality dimension called impulsive sensation seeking, was not confirmed in our research.
