Sekundarni naslov: Psychological resources in relation to career adaptibility and self-perceived employability
Sekundarni povzetek: Since the beginning of the global financial crisis, the school-to-work transition has become more complex and full of challenges. Unpredictable and stressful circumstances of the modern labour market demand young graduates to be more adaptive and persistent during their transition. The purpose of our research was to determine, which psychological resources support the individual during this transition. We were interested in the nature of the connection between career adaptability and self-perceived employability and the following psychological resources: career search self-efficacy, a proactive personality, coping strategies, and the sense of coherence. The sample was composed of 139 participants, of which 70.4 percent were final year students and 29.6 percent were 2nd degree graduates of the University of Maribor. The hypotheses were tested using multiple regression. The results showed that a proactive personality, career search self-efficacy, and planning were the most important predictors of career adaptability, while the most important predictors of perceived employability were a proactive personality and career search self-efficacy. The last part of the paper presents guidelines for providing counselling to students on how to strengthen the psychological resources that predict a successful school-to-work transition.
