Biološka zdravila so namenjena bolnikom z vnetnim revmatizmom. Deležni so jih bolniki s postavljeno diagnozo, neuspešnim klasičnim zdravljenjem in aktivno boleznijo.

Sekundarni naslov: THE IMPACT OF INFLAMMATORY RHEUMATIC DISEASES ON ABSENTEEISM AND THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF BIOLOGICALLY TREATED PATIENTS
Sekundarni povzetek: The purpose of this master’s thesis is to investigate the effects of inflammatory rheumatic diseases on absenteeism and on the quality of life of biologically treated patients. The most common inflammatory rheumatic diseases are: rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative spondylarthritis, septic arthritis and gout as well as systemic connective tissue disease. Biologic medical products are to be used by patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases. It is intended for patients with an established diagnosis, for whom traditional medicine has failed, and who have an active disease. The major objective of this thesis is to examine and compare medical absenteeism in 90 patients receiving biologics and in 90 patients not receiving biologics. The study has shown that biologically treated patients are less absent from work than patients who are not being treated with biologics. Furthermore, the study indicates that the quality of life of biologically treated patients and their cooperation with nurses is better than that of patients being treated with standard medication. According to rheumatic patients, biologics have a positive impact on their quality of life and consequently on absenteeism. Nurses are least in contact with patients not receiving biologics. Pain is the factor that limits the quality of life of patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases the most. That is why it is important to improve the quality of health care services as there are still a large number of patients who have not yet received any counselling or any kind of information from nurses at all.
