Povzetek

V magistrskem delu smo se lotili priprave biološko kompatibilnih polimerov z uporabo poli(metil metakrilatnih) PMMA zrn. Z uporabo krogličnih šablon smo želeli doseči ustrezno poroznost in morfologijo biozdružljivih polimerov. PMMA zrna smo uporabili kot nosilec za doseganje ustrezne poroznosti materiala. Najprej smo polimerna zrna okarakterizirali s svetlobno mikroskopijo in jim tako določili velikostno porazdelitev. Polimerna zrna ustrezne velikosti smo nato temperaturno obdelali (sintrali) in jim določili optimalno temperaturo in čas sintranja. Pri tem smo upoštevali več parametrov: porazdelitev kroglic, trdnost nosilca, velikost vmesnih prostorov med zrni. Optimalni čas in temperaturo sintranja smo dosegli pri 24 h in 180 °C. Nosilec poli(metil metakrilatnih) PMMA zrn smo nato prelili z mešanico monomerov oz. raztopino polimera. Kot monomere smo uporabili: 2-hidroksietil metakrilat (HEMA), etilenglikol dimetakrilat (EGDMA) in etilakrilat (EA), ter divinil adipat (DVA) in pentaeritritol tetrakis(3-merkaptopropionat) (TT). Kot raztopino polimera pa smo uporabili poli(mlečno kislino). Monomerne mešanice smo najprej polimerizirali z uporabo UV svetlobe v fotopolimerizatorju, nato pa smo dobljene polimere očistili v ustreznih topilih, ki so raztopila PMMA zrna. Kot topila smo pri monomernih mešanicah uporabili kombinacijo etilacetata in etanola. Tako smo dobili polimere z želeno porozno strukturo. Pri polimlečni kislini pa smo iskali različna organska topila, ki bi raztopila PMMA zrna, polimer pa bi ohranil porozno strukturo. Dobljene porozne materiale smo ustrezno okarakterizirali z vrstično elektronsko mikroskopijo. Polimernim materialom smo določili poroznost ter velikosti primarnih in sekundarnih por.

Sekundarni povzetek: In this master thesis, biocompatible polymers were prepared using poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA beads. By using polymeric microspheres we wanted to achieve adequate porosity and morphology of biocompatible polymers. PMMA beads were used as a template to achieve an adequate porosity of the material. First, polymeric beads were charactarized with light microscopy to determine the size distribution. The polymeric beads of an appropriate size were afterwards heat treated (sintered) to determine the optimum temperature and time of sintering. In doing so, we took into account several parameters: the distribution of the beads, the strength of the carrier and the size of intermediate spaces between beads. The optimum time and temperature of sintering were achieved at 24 h and 180 °C. Mixtures of monomers or a polymer solution were then poured onto the template of poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA beads. As monomers were used: 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) and ethyl acrylate (EA), but also divinyl adipate (DVA) and pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-mercaptopropionate) (TT). Polylactic acid was used as a polymer solution. Monomer mixtures were initially polymerized using UV light in a photopolymerizator. Then the obtained polymers were purified in appropriate solvents, which dissolved the PMMA beads. As solvents in the monomer mixtures we used a combination of ethyl acetate and ethanol. The result were polymers with a characteristic porous structure. In the case of polylactic acid, we searched for various organic solvents to dissolve the PMMA beads, but also to maintain the porous structure of the polymer. The resulting porous materials were adequately characterized with scanning electron microscopy. Polymeric materials were determined by porosity and the size of the primary and secondary pores.
