V diplomski nalogi smo predstavili protokolarna pravila, protokol v Republiki Sloveniji, ceremonial uradnih obiskov v Republiki Sloveniji ter Javni gospodarski zavod Brdo.
V tretjem delu smo preučili organiziranost in priprave zaposlenih v JGZ Brdo na državniški obisk njenega veličanstva kraljice Elizabete II. in njegove kraljeve visokosti vojvode Edinburškega v Republiki Sloveniji.

Organization of a state visit at JGZ Brdo |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
We usually think about protocol, when we don’t know how to set the table appropriately, what the arrivals order of guests should be, when should we send flowers to someone, how to properly raise a flag…these questions alone point to the problem of defining what protocol actually is. There are, after all, as many definitions as there are authors.
As defined by Ksenija Benedetti (2008), protocol is a skill of organizing, which steers public as well as private institutions, it is a set of norms and rules defined by laws, decrees and habits.
In our thesis we have sought to introduce the rules of protocol, The Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia, the ceremonial of an official state visit to the Republic and the functioning of the State protocol services of the Republic of Slovenia.
The first part of the thesis is an overview of the main concepts such as protocol, diplomacy, ceremonial as well as protocol as a service and as an event.
The second part of the thesis serves as a description of the protocol in the Republic of Slovenia and the ceremonial of an official state visit in the Republic of Slovenia.
In the third part of the thesis we have studied the organization and the preparations of the State protocol services of the Republic of Slovenia for the visit of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II. and his highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It is our finding that the State protocol services of the Republic of Slovenia had prepared extensively for the visit, executed it within the rules of protocol and insured that the program was carried out without a problem. The Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia and the staff of the State protocol services of the Republic of Slovenia had made sure that the visit of the royal couple ran smoothly and in accordance with the program agreed upon by the advance planning team.
The last part includes our findings, suggestions for improvement and the conclusion. It was stated by the media that the head of state, president Danilo Türk breached protocol by leaving the Queen's side, as they were inspecting the honor guard, at Brdo pri Kranju, however that was not considered as a scandal. The Queen's visit also stirred the passion of the Slovene public with regards to the guest list at the formal dinner at Brdo Castle, however both of those incidences were quickly forgotten.
