Abstract

Delo diplomskega projekta zajema teoretični in praktični del. Nato smo uvrstili različne ključne kazalnike uspešnosti v posamezne kategorije, katere so v praksi pogosto uporabljene.

Secondary title: Key performance indicators of manufactoring companies
Secondary abstract: The work of the diploma project comprises of theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, we first presented the manufacturing industry and its developments from the first industrial revolution to the fourth industrial revolution, which is currently facing the manufacturing companies. In order to better understand the topic and also the importance of manufacturing activity, we presented the current situation of manufacturing industry for the world’s and Slovenia’s economy. In order to understand the topic, we also had to define business processes and manufacturing processes. Furthermore, we defined the concepts of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. The understanding of which will be important for determining our research question. We also defined links between these terms and found that in practice they are often confused with one or another, although they are inter-related. The theoretical and practical part intertwined in the chapter in which we presented key performance indicators. First, we determined what features do well-defined key performance indicators need and how the measurement of them does provides value for the company. We then included various key performance indicators in individual categories, which are often used in practice. We also defined ISO 22400, MESA International and WERC as examples of good practice. Furthermore, we identified what is the significance of the performance measurement system in the manufacturing companies. We presented balanced scorecard system in greater detail. At the end, we also presented suggestions for the practice, which consists of findings and lessons learned from the work of the diploma project. Suggestions will include tips on how to tackle the implementation process of key performance indicators in order to improve business performance.
