Abstract

V naravi lahko vidimo, da je vse, kar le-ta vsebuje, v ravnovesju in da konec enega predstavlja začetek drugega. Del ekosistemov, skupnosti rastlin, živali in majhnih organizmov smo tudi mi, zato moramo to ravnovesje ceniti in zanj skrbeti. Treba se je izobraziti s ciljem, da razvijemo trajnostno mišljenje in trajnosten način življenja, kar se v veliki meri začne pri razvijanju ekološke pismenosti, in sicer učiteljev in učencev. Pri razvoju te pismenosti so zelo pomembne konkretne, izvenšolske izkušnje, saj je osnova vzgoje in izobraževanja za okolje nabiranje izkušenj v naravi. Neposredno doživljanje spodbuja učenje, krepi radovednost, razvija kreativnost in razumevanje same narave. Poučevanje učencev o okolju in za okolje je bistveno za njihov osebni razvoj. Vsi smo odvisni od okolja, zato mora biti naš življenjski namen preusmerjen na vzdrževanje in izboljševanje le-tega. Učitelji učence pripravljajo in ozaveščajo o okolju in pomenu njegovega ohranjanja in varovanja. Učitelji imajo pri razvijanju ekološke ozaveščenosti učencev in samem pogledu na varovanje narave ključno vlogo, zato smo v empiričnem delu s pomočjo spletnega anketnega vprašalnika raziskali njihovo angažiranost, vključenost v dejavnosti za okolje, zanimanje za okolje in trajnostni razvoj ter njuno pomembnost, vključevanje določenih dejavnosti v pouk za boljše okoljsko izobraževanje svojih učencev, razmišljanje o izboljšanju stanja okoljskega izobraževanja za učence prvega triletja in izboljšanju ekološke ozaveščenosti učiteljev razrednega pouka. Anketni vprašalni sta izpolnila 202 učitelja prvega triletja osnovnih šol iz vseh dvanajstih regij Slovenije. Učitelji so v povprečju pokazali na visoko zanimanje za okolje, visoko so ocenjevali pomembnost okoljskega izobraževanja, kar se je kazalo pri rezultatih glede aktivnosti, ki jih vključujejo v pouk, za primerno okoljsko izobraževanje. Pokazali so, da se zavedajo pomembnosti ekološke ozaveščenosti ljudi v trenutnem svetu, kjer ima ključno vlogo za spodbujanje le-tega izobraževanje. Ugotovitve so prav tako pokazale raznolikost pri strinjanju oz. nestrinjanju glede potrebe po izboljšanju okoljskega izobraževanja za učence v prvem triletju kot tudi glede potrebe po izpopolnitvi ekološke ozaveščenosti učiteljev razrednega pouka v Sloveniji.

Secondary title: Ecological awareness among teachers of the first three grades of primary school in Slovenia
Secondary abstract: Everything in nature is in balance and connected. We as people are part of ecosystems, plant communities, and small organisms, therefore we must appreciate this balance and make sure we maintain it. It is necessary to be educated on this matter in order to develop sustainable thinking and a sustainable way of life, which usually starts by developing ecological literacy in teachers and students. In developing ecological literacy, actual extracurricular activities play a huge role, as exploring nature is the basis of environmental education. Direct experience stimulates learning, awakens curiosity, and develops creativity as well as the understanding of nature itself. Teaching students about the environment is essential for their personal development. We all depend on the environment; therefore, our life purpose should focus on maintaining and improving it. Teachers teach students about the environment and raise their awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and protection. Teachers play a key role in developing the awareness of students and their attitude towards nature protection. Therefore, the empirical part analyses their engagement and participation in environmental activities, as well as their interest in the environment and sustainable development, and the importance of the two. Furthermore, the empirical part analyses the inclusion of certain activities into lesson plans for further environmental education of students, consideration of improvement of environmental education for the students of the first three grades of primary school, as well as improvement of ecological awareness among teachers. Two hundred and two teachers of the first three grades from all twelve Slovenian regions participated in the survey. On average, teachers exhibited a strong interest in environmental issues. Based on the results regarding the environmental activities their lesson plans include, they mostly assessed the importance of environmental education as high. They proved that they are aware of the importance of ecological awareness in today's world where the key to promoting it is education. The results also revealed teachers are not united in believing there is a need for improvement of environmental education for elementary education teachers in Slovenia.
