diplomsko delo
Abstract

Differences in leadership in different cultures |
Secondary abstract: |
In this undergraduate thesis, we have gone into more depth on the definition of the leadership function, which is important in any organisation, as it ensures that the employees achieve organisation’s goals and feel accepted and valued based on the proper leadership style. In the event of a leadership role, we have focused mainly on leadership theories and leadership styles, and have defined them accordingly. We have defined the function of a manager, who has to ensure that employees feel comfortable in a particular organisation and that the work they accomplish is not too difficult or does not cause them any health issues. Once we have defined the management function and the role of a manager, we have determined the communication, which is also important when dealing with foreign business people. In this particular topic we have put focus on verbal and non-verbal, formal and informal communication, as we have used the criterion of business communication to compare the differences and similarities among countries in later chapter of this undergraduate thesis. We have defined culture, described its characteristics, introduced corporate culture and highlighted how it influences the management process itself. Before coming to the chapter on the comparative analysis among countries, we have described each country's culture and the business practices that apply to the organisations within it. This undergraduate thesis deals with the differences in leadership styles in different cultures, based on the communication and cultural differences in the selected countries, such as Slovenia, Germany and Italy. The comparison based on the selected criteria has shown that the countries described are similar in some cases, but different in other. The key differences between them can be seen in the management styles that apply in the organisations and in the way they communicate. To avoid or deal with these differences, we need to know how to behave in each country and how to communicate with the manager as well as with other employees. |
