diplomsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: Experiencing stress while writing a graduation thesis among students at the Faculty of Social Work
Secondary abstract: In my graduation thesis, I research how students of the Faculty of Social Work experience the process of writing a bachelor's thesis. In the initial part of the theoretical introduction, I present the concept of stress - what is stress, what types of stress do we know, how it affects us and about the stress that young people experience. In the second part of the theoretical introduction, I write about the hardships and worries of young people who are in the transition to adulthood, meaning the time when young people are finishing their studies. I wanted to research how students experience the process of writing a diploma thesis, what is stressfull for them during this time, how they cope with it and what their needs and desires are to make this time easier and less stressful for them. Moreover, I wanted to find out what are the hardships and worries of students at the time of graduation, and what is the view of students on the bachelor's thesis being the only possible completion of undergraduate studies at our faculty. I explore this in the empirical part of the research with the help of interviews I conducted with six students who had the experience of writing a dissertation in this school year. I researched that the process of writing a dissertation for students is stressful, which is also influenced by other factors, such as other study obligations, student work, personal circumstances, uncertain future and others. Participants find stress management techniques helpful during the time of writting, and the help and support of loved ones and the mentor they work with is also very important. Students would like to have more knowledge about writing a bachelor's thesis, different support from a mentor and also other possibilities for completing undergraduate studies.
