Abstract

Secondary title: Promotion of vaccination against tick-borne meningoencefalitis
Secondary abstract: The thesis describes tick-borne meningoencephalitis (TBE). We focus on the awareness of people living in Koroška about the disease, on how they prevent ticks’ bites and which factors influence the decision to vaccinate oneself against TBE. The nurses’ role at the promotion of vaccination against TBE and his / her role in the vaccination healthcare center are also presented. In the empirical part, we present a research that was conducted in November and December 2009 and in January 2010 amongst 100 adults that visited the vaccination clinic. We were interested if they were familiar with the disease, how they protected themselves from ticks before going out in the nature and what influenced their decision to get vaccinated against TBE. The research shows that respondents are well familiar with the disease, that they follow measures to prevent themselves against ticks’ bites and that due to a high price of vaccination against TBE people get vaccinated less often.
