Abstract

Staranje je neizogiben proces, ki doleti vsakega izmed nas. Staranje je nemogoče ustaviti, lahko pa ga omilimo, živimo zdravo, se pripravimo na starost in si tako podaljšamo življenje ter preprečimo nastanek nekaterih obolenj. Zdravje je v starosti še kako pomembno, saj je od zdravja odvisen naš način in potek življenja. Zdravje je vrednota, ki pa dobi še večji pomen v starosti ali ob pojavu bolezni. Zdravje je potrebno negovati, ga krepiti in se ga truditi čim dlje ohraniti. V raziskavo na temo diplomskega dela je bilo vključenih 50 starostnikov iz Društva Optimisti Ptuj. Z anketo smo želeli predvsem ugotoviti, kako za svoje zdravje skrbijo starostniki ter kako ga krepijo in ohranjajo. Ugotovili smo, da se 52 % anketiranih smatra za zdrave osebe, ne glede na njihovo dejansko zdravstveno stanje oziroma ne glede na to ali imajo kakšno obolenje ali ne. Ugotovili smo tudi, da se pri starostnikih pojavlja multimorbidnost, ter da so pri anketirancih (med drugimi) najbolj razširjena obolenja: povišan krvni tlak, povišan holesterol, osteoporoza, sladkorna bolezen in debelost. Raziskava je tudi pokazala, da se starostniki trudijo za svoje zdravje, ter da ga ohranjajo z rednim gibanjem, zdravo prehrano in različnimi dejavnostmi.

Secondary abstract: Aging is an inevitable process, which affects all of us. Aging is impossible to stop, but it can be mitigated with healthy living and through our preparation for old age that can prolong our life and prevent the emergence of some diseases. Being healthy in old age is very important, because the course and the way of our life depend on it. Health is a value that becomes more significant in old age or in sickness. Health needs to be nurtured and strengthened by constant effort to maintain it as long as possible. Thesis’s research included 50 elder people from society Društvo optimisti Ptuj. The main goal of the research was to determine how the elderly take care of their own health and how they strengthen and maintain it. We found that 52 % of respondents consider themselves healthy, regardless of their actual health status, and irrespective of whether they have a disease or not. We also noted a phenomenon of “multimorbidity” and that the most prevalent diseases (among others) are: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, diabetes and obesity. The research has also showed that the elderly are trying to maintain their health with regular exercise, healthy diet and various activities.
