Abstract
Pred epidemijo so najpogosteje uporabljali e-mail, programe Office 365 in iskalnike informacij. Pogosto uporabljani ostajajo e-mail, programi Office 365 in iskalniki informacij.

Comparison of ICT usage in geography class before, during and after COVID-19 in Slovenian primary and secondary schools |
Secondary abstract: |
Information and communications technology is becoming more relevant in all fields of life. The closing of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced teachers into remote work and consequently increased the frequency of ICT usage. Geography class was tightly linked with ICT usage even before the pandemic, which did not change during distance education. The research was focused on the frequency of ICT use amongst teachers of Geography. The sample represents 138 Geography teachers from primary and secondary schools in Slovenia. The results point out that the teachers used ICT the least before the pandemic and the most during the pandemic. The general level of frequency of ICT usage in Geography class is higher after the epidemic than it was before the epidemic. Before the epidemic, the most frequently used were email, Office 365 software and the searching of information. During the epidemic, distance communication tools and e-classrooms became more commonly used, alongside the ICT tools already being used. After the epidemic, the frequency of usage of distance communication tools and e-classrooms fell. Email, Office 365 software and the searching of information remain frequently used. During all of the stages, didactic cards, software for lesson recording, GIS and GPS saw the least amount of usage. The research shows that gender does not affect the frequency of ICT usage. Statistically, age does not affect the frequency of ICT usage, however, descriptive statistics reveal that younger teachers use ICT more frequently than older teachers do. Statistically, the region does not affect ICT usage, but descriptive statistics reveal that there are differences in ICT usage between different regions. The type of school does not affect the frequency of ICT usage. Younger teachers report themselves as being more competent than older teachers do. The teachers teaching at secondary school report themselves as being more competent than teachers teaching at primary schools do. The teachers reported their competence after the epidemic to be higher than it was before the epidemic. Less experienced teachers report themselves as being more competent before the pandemic than more experienced teachers do. Younger and older teachers used ICT before and after the closing of the schools due to personal interest. |
