magistrsko delo
Abstract

Effects of an eight-week exercise programme for a person with abdominal separation and weak pelvic floor muscles |
Secondary abstract: |
Regular physical activity is important at all stages of life. It is one of the key factors in a healthy lifestyle, if it is properly adapted to each individual. Pregnant and post-natal women are a vulnerable population who urgently need appropriate and adapted physical activity to recover properly, and the rehabilitation of the consequences of pregnancy (e.g. weakened pelvic floor muscles (PFM), urinary incontinence (UI) and diastasis rectus abdominis (DRA)) is crucial. The aim of the present work was to present and highlight the problem of DRA and weakened MMD. In the first part, we presented the theoretical background of abdominal muscle anatomy and MMD, as well as their importance in daily activities. In the second part, we focused on an eight-week tailored exercise programme, which was designed specifically for our subject individual to rehabilitate DRA and strengthen and improve MMD functionality. We confirmed all hypotheses and thus demonstrated that a tailored exercise programme can reduce DRA, but also improve MMD function and, consequently, cure UI. This confirmed that the discomfort in daily activities is reduced or completely disappears through a tailored exercise programme. We have presented that after pregnancy, professionally guided exercise tailored to the individual is essential for proper recovery and regaining a healthy body. |
