diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Varnost in policijsko delo
Abstract

Ensuring safe and continuous mobile communications in critical infrastructure sectors |
Secondary abstract: |
For critical infrastructure sectors to operate successfully and provide key societal functions, safe and continuous mobile communication services must be available to allow communication with each other and with the relevant government authorities. These enable cooperation in crisis response and inform the public authorities so that they can take appropriate measures to protect the state and its population. In this diploma thesis we have analysed the vulnerabilities of current mobile communication technologies and their impact on safety and continuity of communications in critical infrastructure sectors. We have identified the key vulnerabilities of the current technology and the benefits of using more advanced 5G technology to deliver communication services in critical infrastructure sectors. We have outlined the rationale for the use of 5G technology in critical infrastructure sectors and described ways to deploy private 5G networks that offer the highest level of security and reliability. We also interviewed two employees of Telekom Slovenije, which is itself a critical infrastructure operator, and analysed their responses against the existing literature and our own findings. |
