Abstract

Secondary abstract: The thesis titled Challenges in The Integration of Immigrant Children into Preschool Setting is divided into two parts: the theoretical and empirical section. In the theoretical section, we synthesized the views and perspectives of various experts on immigrant children and the challenges that may arise during their integration into preschool setting. We delved into the difficulties encountered by parents and educators during this transitional period, focusing on how communication and cooperation between educational professionals and parents are managed. In the empirical section, we investigated the specific challenges encountered by educators, parents, and children during the process of integration into preschool setting, with particular emphasis on immigrant children. Our focus was on how these different groups address and overcome potential obstacles. Data were collected through structured interviews and the responses were categorized into two groups: those from educators and those from parents. We conducted a comparative analysis of individual responses within each group, followed by a cross-comparison between the two. Our findings indicate that both groups recognize the importance of a gradual adaptation process for children entering a new environment. Both parents and educators frequently face language barriers and other challenges, yet they strive to respect the child's cultural background, adapt the learning environment accordingly, and utilize technology to facilitate effective communication.
