Secondary title: Literacy development and Montessori educational approach
Secondary abstract: Literacy development does not mean that we are only able to explain the signs that are written on paper, it is the ability to understand what we see, hear and feel. And that is what children learn using the method of literacy development with elements of Maria Montessori approach through senses, and this enables a child the development of phonemic awareness. In my thesis I present the effects of this method. I have compared the results of phonemic awareness and reading skills of our children to the results of phonemic awareness and reading skills of children from other schools, which develop literacy using the school curriculum. The curriculum defines how to develop phonemic awareness in the first grade of elementary school. My research showed that children, who develop literacy using the elements of M. Montessori approach, have better results at phonemic awareness and reading and writing skills.

Prav to otroci odkrivajo ob metodi opismenjevanja z elementi pedagogike Marie Montessori preko čutil, kar omogoča otroku predvsem poglobljen razvoj glasovnega zavedanja.
