Secondary abstract: This Diploma Work, entitled Parents of preschool children and their reading habits, is composed of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I write about literacy, kinds of literacy, reading, reading motivation, family influence on child's nascent literacy, the development of his reading competence and motivation and their role in child's future success. The main purpose of this Diploma Work is to find out what kind of reading habits do parents of preschool children have and if they have any influence on the quantity and quality of their family reading. So in the empirical part I focused on parents and prepared a questionarre in which I asked them about how much do they read, what do they read and what kinds of activities accompany their reading to their children.

Abstract (ePrints): Diplomsko delo z naslovom Starši predšolskih otrok in njihove bralne navade je sestavljeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. V teoretičnem delu pišem o opismenjevanju, vrstah pismenosti, branju, motivaciji zanj, vlogi družine pri opismenjevanju otroka in razvoju njegove bralne sposobnosti in motivacije ter njuni vlogi za otrokov kasnejši uspeh. Cilj diplomskega dela je ugotoviti, kakšne so bralne navade staršev predšolskih otrok in ali te vplivajo na njihovo branje otrokom in z njimi. V empiričnem delu sem se tako osredinila na starše in jih preko anketnega vprašalnika povprašala o tem, koliko berejo, kaj berejo ter katere aktivnosti spremljajo njihovo branje otrokom.
