Secondary title: The impact of family literacy on the early literacy process of children
Secondary abstract: This Diploma Work, entitled The Impact of Family Literacy on the early literacy process of children is composed of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part literacy, the earliest literacy process, which is known as the nascent literacy, and family literacy, which represent the key part, are defined. Since family literacy affects all further literacy processes, literacy factors, which have influence on the nascent literacy of a child, are also presented. The main purpose of this Diploma Work is to find out why family literacy has such great influence on the early literacy process of children. After examining the technical literature I prepared a questionnaire for parents and I tried to find out if they knew the term “family literacy” and if they were aware of family activities that affected the literacy of children. I also tried to figure out what plays a more important role in the literacy process of children according to their point of view – family environment or educational institutions. On the basis of the questionnaire I also tried to find out if there were differences regarding the most important activities for the literacy process of children between parents whose children attended nursery school and those whose children were first-formers. Final findings are focused on suggestions for the improvement of the current situation in the discussed field.

Abstract (ePrints): Diplomsko delo z naslovom Vpliv družinske pismenosti na zgodnje opismenjevanje otrok obsega teoretični in empirični del.
