Assessment of social studies in fourth grade |
Secondary abstract: |
The purpose of the thesis was to collect the experience of teachers in the evaluation process and perhaps to help future teachers by doing so.
The theoretical part defines evaluation and its purpose, and presents measurement characteristics which teachers should consider in the evaluation process. Errors in the evaluation process, which occur if measurement characteristics are not considered, are also described. Several ways and types of evaluation are presented, with their advantages and weaknesses. Procedure planning and evaluation preparation are also defined. Special attention was paid to the subject Society in the fourth grade. The subject Society is presented with its purpose, general aims of the subject, didactic recommendations and various didactic approaches which come to the forefront because of the design of the subject more than in other subjects.
The empirical part of the thesis analyses the data acquired with an interview. The interview is divided into two sections. The first section consists of questions related to evaluation in general which comprise everything from planning to implementation of evaluation. Several questions aim for teachers' feelings when facing various obstacles. The second section of questions refers to evaluation in the subject Society.
Among other, results have shown that teachers as beginners were not confident and ready enough regarding the evaluation of knowledge and that most teachers would not evaluate knowledge if it weren't a predetermined part of teaching. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
