Secondary title:	Seismograph and its use in primary school
Secondary abstract:	In the thesis the construction and the operation of a seismograph that records the ground motion is described. The seismograph is designed for teachers as a didactic tool. We used inexpensive and easily obtainable materials, which enable teachers to build up such a seismograph. The seismograph records video data. From the video data the information about the ground motion in a selected horizontal direction is extracted. The light source used is a laser pointer that is attached to the swinging rod. In this thesis several similar demonstration devices that are available on the market are described and compared among each other. In addition we briefly describe some topics in school physics that teachers can address while using the seismograph in order to provoke a discussion in class. A work sheet for carrying out a lesson with the seismograph is attached at the end.
