Abstract

Prirojene srčne napake vplivajo na kakovost življenja otroka ter njegove družine, zato ti potrebujejo podporo in razumevanje zdravstvenega in negovalnega tima. V empiričnem delu smo želeli ugotoviti, kakšna je vloga medicinske sestre pri obravnavi otroka s prirojenimi srčnimi napakami in koliko so starši informirani o bolezni svojega otroka. Če bomo družini in njihovemu bolnemu otroku želeli zagotoviti kakovostno zdravstveno nego, bomo morali dokazati svoje znanje in promovirati naše delo in vlogo v zdravstvenem sistemu.

Secondary title: CONGENITAL HEART DEFECTS IN CHILDREN
Secondary abstract: Theoretical introduction (background): Congenital heart defects appear at 0,8% of the newborns. The formation of cardiac defects is affected by various adverse factors, especially at the beginning of the first triad of pregnancy. Congenital heart defects affect the quality of life of the children and his family. For this reason, they need support and understanding of the medical and nursing team. In the empiric part of the thesis, the purpose was to figure out the role of nurses in the health treatment with the children having heart disease and how the parents are informed about their children´s illness. Research methodology: The empiric part of the thesis based on the quantitative method of research. Anonymous questionnaire included 15 partially structured questions. In the research participated 40 parents of the children with children heart disease. Research was performed with the help of Društva srčnih otrok, on -line questionnaire was published on MedOver and Facebook page Prirojene srčne napake. Data were analysed and graphically illustrated in Excel sheet. Results: Results of the research show that people perceived nurse in 62,5 % as a health care teacher and the person who is in 67,5 % ready to listen to the problems of patients and their families during the treatment of ill children. On the other hand, nurses are less successfully with giving information that children and his family need. Analysis of research also shows, that 42,5 % of respondents believe, that nurses do not have enough knowledge about children heart diseases. By the review of the 22,5 % respondents, nurses do not offer enough help to the child and his family . Conclusion: Medical treatment of children with congenital heart disease is extremely challenging for the entire nursing and medical team. Nurses in Slovenia do not know enough about children heart diseases, following that, the parents have doubt about our role in the treatment of their sick children. If we would like to provide quality health care to a family and their sick child, we need to demonstrate our knowledge and promote our work and role in the health system.
