Abstract

Secondary title: Synonyms, antonyms and variations in the Phraseological dictionary of Slovene from A to Č
Secondary abstract: Slovene linguists began to actively research Slovene phraseology as late as the 1970's which was after the publishing of the Dictionary of Standard Slovenian Language (SSKJ), yet the Slovene linguists had to wait until 2011 to get their first monolingual phraseological dictionary published by Janez Keber. This monolingual phraseological dictionary presents a turning point in the research of the Slovene phraseology. The Phraseological dictionary of Slovene (SSF) inspired us to make a wider research of the phraseological material found in this dictionary. Due to the comprehensiveness of the dictionary we have limited our research to phrases categorized under A to Č. The purpose of this diploma thesis was to first and foremost clarify the distinction between lexical variations and synonymous phrases. In order to do this distinction properly we had to go through wide amount of synonyms, antonyms and lexical variations contained in the dictionary. This is the reason why we have only taken phrases from categorized under A to Č and placed them into a table. In order to do this we have used theoretical basics, because we needed to set a type for every single variation. We mainly used the variation division as proposed by Erika Kržišnik. When we have gathered all the materials, we did a thorough analysis of the synonyms from the Phraseological dictionary of Slovene. We discovered that the Phraseological dictionary of Slovene contains synonymous phrases as well as lexical variants. We used tables to present the division of the synonyms and added a special section dedicated to synonymous phrases and lexical variation. At the end we also added a table where we put side to side the materials from the Phraseological dictionary of Slovene and our division of synonyms, so that a person can get a better insight into the researched topic. In this research we used descriptive, comparative and classification methods as well as primary, secondary and tertiary resources.
