Abstract

Secondary abstract: To be on top and at the same time the one who leads in the field of sports is a big challenge for every club. People have realized that to manage a club successfully, people must invest a lot of time and hard work. In recent decades, sport has developed on both, competitive as well as on business side. A great majority of people who are involved in sports do it mostly as a hobby. In addition to it, those people also want to transfer their love towards sports into their business fields. A lot of people in business have seen excellent opportunities so far in order to combine their love and passion for sports on one side, and on the other side, to promote the name of the brand or product as well as making profit. On a global level, the connection between sports and business is a regular feature. Due to extent of sports and different kinds of sports disciplines, companies decide on their own with which clubs they want to cooperate, and which markets they want to enter. One of the less attractive markets for sports management and business is Slovenian market. This is because of the smaller market size and lower quality of competition, and also a reason why greater majority of foreign and Slovene companies avoid sponsoring Slovene home clubs. In these circumstances given, the innovativeness of certain clubs and the quality of the clubs’ staff is an important factor. In this diploma seminar work, we have reached findings that one of the most important factors in clubs are team work inside the club and because of the club’s size there are also other important factors following: innovativeness, creativity, freedom and collaboration. In fact, clubs can expect growth and progress only with cooperation and systematic work inside the club itself, in competitive as well as business sphere. In years ahead of us, we cannot expect better conditions for sport clubs in Slovenia because of recession, and an ignorant attitude of home and foreign companies also contributes to this. Systematic work in clubs and good work with junior teams, connections with elementary schools and systematic work in those with a help of club’s staff bring competitive results in a long run, and consequently a better basis for home and foreign investors.
