Abstract

Secondary title: ATTITUDES OF PRIMARY TEACHER EDUCATION STUDENTS AND TEACHERS TOWARDS CREATIVITY
Secondary abstract: In my dissertation, I studied the attitudes of primary teacher education students and teachers towards different areas of creativity, a creative person, development of creativity, a creative self, creativity in primary school, encouraging creativity in primary school, and the attitude towards one's own competence to encourage pupils to be creative. Creativity is a virtue found in every individual. However, the extent to which it will be developed depends on oneself. Creativity is very important, especially for children. As inexperienced human beings, children need to be shown that exploring, experimenting, and inventing, alongside the risk-taking, rule breaking and making mistakes can be fun. They need the encouragement to be as creative as possible. Due to a teacher's important role in encouraging creativity, a research on the attitude of primary teacher education teachers and students towards creativity was conducted. The survey shows that all the research participants believe they are competent enough to encourage creativity in primary school and that all children can be creative. The teachers explained that they make use of various new teaching techniques and strategies, and they also try to improve certain things. The students acquire most competence for encouraging creativity in a faculty and during their work experience, whereas the teachers gain it through teaching or elsewhere. On the basis of the results, the teachers proved the most creative, followed by the 2nd degree students and the 1st degree students.
