Abstract

ǂThe ǂcomparison of the pension system in Slovenia and Czech Republic |
Secondary abstract: |
Slovenia is, like most developed countries of the European Union, faced with the trend of an ageing population and extension of life expectancy as well as with the question of how to ensure the financial sustainability of the pension system and decent pensions.
In early 2013 , in Slovenia came into force the new pension reform ZPIZ-2, which has moved the retirement age to 65 years for women and men and introduced life-cycle funds for the voluntary second pillar. The reform, despite the gradual implementation, has already yielded positive results.
Czech Republic has stricter requirements for retirement as Slovenia. With the latest pension reform, which came into force on 1. 1. 2013, the Czech Republic introduced a mandatory second pillar with different rules of engagement. Due to a low enrolment and lack of funds collected, the mandatory second pillar has been already cancelled in January 2016. |
