Knowledge of the slovene language as a condition for a successful integration of non-slovene children into slovene kindergartens |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
This diploma thesis deals with foreign children in Slovenian kindergartens. I begin by defining the documents which provide the legal basis for the education of foreign children in Slovenia. These documents are: Kurikulum za vrtce, Bela knjiga o vzgoji in izobraževanju, Smernice za izobraževanje otrok tujcev v vrtcih in šolah and addendums to kindergarten curriculum. In the documents, the principles and goals that are relevant for working with foreign children are presented. Kidergarten teachers use these as a basis when planning their work. The most emphasized principle is that of interculturalism and interculturality, which guarantees equal conditions for the optimal development of children.
I proceed by describing foreign children's mother tongue and second language acquisition, various factors that influece this, and the role that adults play in their children's acquisition of both languages. In my diploma thesis, two consequences of aquiring two languages are desribed, namely bilingualism and diglossia. In the second part of my diploma, I present a research in which I analyzed a sample of 48 teachers from two of Ljubljana's kindergartens. I was interested in their opinions and viewpoints on what makes the integration of foreign children difficult, how much help they need when dealing with those children, and what form this help should take. I was also interested in their opinions regarding the use of foreign children's mother tongue in various planned ad unplanned activities. |

Diplomska naloga obravnava otroke tujce v slovenskih vrtcih.
