First aid in kindergarten |
Sekundarni povzetek: |
The purpose of the thesis was to determine the knowledge and experience in providing first aid between the kindergartens teachers and a third year students of pre-school education in Faculty of Education in Ljubljana. We also wanted to determine whether teachers acquire their knowledge of first aid through the concrete experience during their working career. For the purpose of this study, we used a questionnaire that included questions on the experience and knowledge of first aid. The study involved 30 teachers of two kindergartens in Ljubljana and 30 students of pre-school education of the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana. Analysis of study results showed that kindergarten teachers have more experience and knowledge in providing first aid compared to pre-school students. Likewise, the analysis of the data confirmed the hypothesis that kindergarten teachers acquire their knowledge of providing the first aid through practical experience when faced with injuries. In the case of certain injuries, such as fractures, wounds, unconsciousness, 13,3 % of teachers and 36,7 % of students would inappropriately handle the injuries, 26,7 % of teachers and 43,3 % of students would adequately handle the injuries and 60 % teachers and 20 % of students would appropriately handle the injuries. Regarding the first aid, 90 % of teachers believe that their knowledge is obtained when the actual injury occurs. |
