Sekundarni naslov: Material adaptation and differentiation in teaching Slovene as a second (foreign) language and the effect of motivation on student successfulness
Sekundarni povzetek: Europe is facing with more immigrants than ever before. Immigrations also occur in Slovenia. In the past we had immigrants mostly from ex-Yugoslavia, but today people from all over the world immigrate, because of various reasons. Most people would like to integrate into our society, live a normal life and create a home. The prerequisite for a successful integration is learning the language of the environment, in this case the Slovenian language. Immigrants are able to join Slovene courses as a second/foreign language all across the country, so that it enables them a clear communication in their everyday lives. For language teaching there is a lot of high quality studying material; however there are certain deficiencies, which are among others, connected to the belonging of an individual to a specific language community. The master thesis points out these deficiencies, while at the same time it also offers suggestions for improvements and the differentiation of exercises. The point of interest lies also in the motivation factors and their influence on the successfulness of learning Slovene as a second/foreign language. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into three parts. The first part deals with teaching and educating, with the focus being on the adults and the features of teaching these groups. The second part is about Slovene as the second/foreign language, with the focus on educational programs and the possibilities of teaching and the last part is about the existing teaching materials. The empirical part involves analysing the exercises in the existing materials. It is followed by improvement suggestions and differentiation possibilities, depending on the level of knowledge and the belonging to a certain language community. Additionally there is also an analysis of data gathered with a survey, which gave a clear insight into motivation while learning Slovene as a second/foreign language and the connection with the successfulness of learning a foreign language.
